Sleep Well, Live Better
World Sleep Day 2026 is Friday, March 13, 2026, with the theme “Sleep Well, Live Better,” highlighting sleep as a vital, non-luxury, foundational pillar of health. The day aims to raise awareness of sleep’s impact on mental and physical wellbeing, with initiatives focusing on managing sleep disorders.
Healthy sleep enables students to learn, connect, and thrive.
Unfortunately, some students are unable to sleep well or awaken
refreshed, despite practicing good sleep hygiene habits.
As a World Sleep Day delegate, I decided to raise awareness of narcolepsy in school students by creating a two page brochure that can be shared with schools Australia wide. The reason being that narcolepsy often begins in school age children, and as they spend most of the day at school, a child with narcolepsy can be displaying symptoms that are being overlooked or misinterpreted. I used to fall asleep at school on a regular basis, and often had days off simply because I was too sleepy to get up and go.
This resource is designed to raise awareness of narcolepsy in students to help educators to recognise when a student may have a sleep disorder. Early detection can connect students and their families to the right supports, and can significantly reduce academic, social, and emotional harm.
If you would like a copy of the PDF for your school please message me and I will email you a copy of the PDF file. Let’s raise narcolepsy awareness together and help our children to receive an early diagnosis! #WorldSleepDay
